Interesting thing happened today while I was collecting data for a research in Kuala Selangor. The soles of my shoes were frayed and saw a cobbler while walking around. While he was fixing my shoes, he told me about the story of his life. He has been working as a cobbler for the past 10 years and worked as a clerk before at a private company in KL (Imagine a huge lifestyle change from a clerk in a city to a cobbler in a semi-urban area !). He told me about how he had no skills in fixing shoes and gained those skills out of curiosity and loved it. He quitted his job (which he hates) and started working as a cobbler. He gains around RM 100 per day and earns around RM 3000 per month (which is a normal doctor's salary!) He told me that it doesn't matter what kind of jobs we pursue, government or self-work, it's just the matter of hardwork and loving that particular job, not forgetting to pray to God for help and ease. LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. I have heard stories on how people owe so much money and can't afford to pay them. In the end, you will get along quite well with life.
