Here is a story of a patient that I've met in the psych ward two weeks ago. His story began with his parents' death at the age of 10 and all of his siblings lived separately since then. He was never in contact with them. He had been shifting homes, never pursue in any education and lived a really tough life. He worked for a while in his 20s and quitted as the company stopped giving his salary. He tried to find other jobs but luck was never on his side. He lost his home again and started living off the streets. He became one of those beggars that many of us tend to avoid. Due to prolonged depression and then started hearing voices, he became a patient with schizophrenia. He is currently in his 50s and has this mental illness since 1994. He had multiple admissions as he has no family support, even a home which makes him having poor prognosis from these factors. Moral of the story; whenever we feel like life is unfair, just remember there are so many other people out there who is in worser conditions. Just look up to the ceiling and start counting your blessings to even have a roof over your head.
